Geoscience Projects

Here you will find some of my completed projects related to Remote Sensing, GIS, Cartography, and Physical Geographies. Feel free to download any of the PDF files to view them in full-screen.

Whole Pixel Analysis, SAM vs. SFF

This project is a comparison of two common classification algorithms when conducting the same task of identifying specific minerals from spectral imagery.

Supervised Classification Process

This is a write-up walking through the process of performing a supervised classification on imagery using the ENVI software package.

QUAC Tool Efficiency

This small project is an analysis of the QUick Atmospheric Correction (QUAC) tool, and its effectiveness at performing atmospheric correction with imagery containing different features.

Upper Duck River Sites

A field study of two sites along the Duck River in Tennessee, that represent both physical and cultural geographies and their transfomations over time. This study leverages both my areas of expertise, both Geoscience and Anthropology, and illuminates the history of the Upper Duck river.

Expansion of Solar Power Facilities in Antelope Valley

This small project looks at the rapid expansion of solar power plants in the Atelope valley region of California, on the western edge of the Mojave. It utilizes Landsat 8 captures, and outlines the process for the quantitative analysis of growth and land use.

New Scenic Byway Proposal

This is a mock proposal for the designation of a scenic byway in Tennessee, adhering to the state's descriptors of a scenic byway, and using ArcGIS network analysis tools in that determination.

Frederick de Witt Report

This is a research report on Dutch cartographer Frederick de Witt, his works, and impact on the world of cartography.
